A Better Perspective® has brought together masterful international Coaches and people with unique life experiences to collaborate and create coaching models and training techniques in support of Coaches, Coaching Clients, and coaching worldwide.
Humans have immeasurable resources of energy, resilience, wisdom, and ability waiting to be set in motion. We can get to where we want to be by having a Coach who helps us utilize our resources to facilitate change and realize our potential and inner strength, no matter what the circumstances
Our goal is to create the tools, ideas, and policies to facilitate this process by providing insight, information, and inspiration to all Coaches so that we can implement the coaching model to all aspects of life, worldwide.
Meet some of the key players...
Donna Karlin, PCEC, MCEC, CEC, Diplomate IABMCP (team lead): Founder and Principal of A Better Perspective® is a Master Certified Corporate Coach who has pioneered the specialized practice of Shadow Coaching® with global senior organizational leaders in the global political realm, public and private sectors.
Donna uses an 'inside out' approach, working at the intersection of organizational and human systems. She utilizes the innate skills, knowledge and creativity of those she works with to focus on individual and organizational excellence. Donna is founder of The School of Shadow Coaching®, an International Coach Federation Approved Advanced Coach Training. Donna is a SupporTED Coach, a member of the team that coaches the TED Fellows, Coach at the Unreasonable Institute, and an Associate with Strategic Red Team Consulting.
She is on the Advisory Council of The International Academy of Behavioral Medicine, Counseling and Psychotherapy (IABMCP), and head of the Advisory Board for INSPIRIT International Communications, Brussels, Belgium.
Donna is a Founding Fellow of the Harvard Institute of Coaching Professional Association and on the Strategic Advisory Board for the University of Executive Coaching Education (UCECE). She is on the Board of Directors for the Board of Advisors for the Association of Corporate Executive Coaches (ACEC) and has just been appointed as Ambassador to The Americas, Canada and Italy for the Association of Corporate Executive Coaches.
Denis Kingsley began his career in the public service in 1982. He has since worked with various agencies and departments, such as the Treasury Board Secretariat, the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, the Transportation Safety Board, the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), where he was Director General responsible for the Sahel and Côte d’Ivoire Program, Africa and Middle East Branch.
In 2003, he was named Vice-President of CIDA’s Human Resources and Corporate Services Branch, which included the role of CFO for the Agency and a seat on its Executive Committee. Mr. Kingsley joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 2006 as High Commissioner to Jamaica, the Turks and Caicos, The Bahamas and Cayman Islands and was subsequently appointed as High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2009. He undertook a senior role back at Headquarters as Assistant Deputy Minister, International Platform Branch in April 2010.
Upon leaving the Canadian Public Service, he is now an associate of A Better Perspective®, bringing his extensive, global experience to Leadership Development.
Ralph Mercer: Advocate of whole-person development, Ralph encourages and mentors people to explore learning as a journey of discovery and self-improvement. A problem solver who sees technology as an opportunity to fundamentally change how we deliver education to those on the margins of society.
Ralph is currently a masters candidate and researching the intersection of personal learning environments and the technology that supports the quantified self movement to explore ways to recognize informal learning within the workplace and formal academic institutions.
His presently works within the Education Engagements and partnership Directorate of the Canadian Defence Academy allows him to play a role in the long term intellectual development of military leaders/thinkers, by developing strategic opportunities through effective partnerships and engagements nationally and internationally that: i) enhance the profession of arms and ii) contribute to the DND/CAF global engagement strategy.
Ralph produced the vision document for the modernization of Canadian Forces Non-Commissioned Member (NCM) professional development. As project leader, co-development the learning architecture to support a modern and integrated professional development system. Ralph collaborates with academic advisors to define professional development opportunities for approximately 30,000 members of the Canadian Forces. His latest project was delivered to the implementation team on time and under budget. Ralph continues to work with academic institutions and CanadaCompany.ca to build self-development pathways and certify occupations with their civilian counterparts.
His interests are in how technology can be use to strengthen peace and security in conflict areas and is a personal data right advocate.
